Unu Papel - workshop / Prague
Unu Papel x KERA Workshop. Peruvian artist María Paz Mejía Villena is bringing two paper sculpture workshops to KERA: Friday evening (June 12, 6–9 pm) with a cacao ceremony and Saturday morning (June 13, 10 am–1 pm) with Peruvian coffee. Come to one or both – the workshops complement each other.
Unu Papel x KERA Workshop
María Paz Mejía Villena (b. 1989, Lima, Peru) is a visual artist and sculptor whose work focuses on recycled materials such as paper pulp, cardboard, and natural fibers.
She is the founder and director of Unu Papel Studio (2020), an open studio in Lima dedicated to exploring paper-based techniques and environmentally friendly practices. In addition to her artistic work, she leads workshops that invite participants to engage with materials in a tactile, reflective, and accessible way.
Her practice is intimately connected to nature, drawing inspiration from organic forms, marine ecosystems, and the quiet structures of the natural world.
Mária has prepared two workshops for our studio, primarily focused on paper sculpting techniques, so we will mainly work with paper and lightweight structural elements.
🌙 Friday Workshop June 12 / 6-9 PM
Cacao Ritual & Paper Sculpture
An intimate evening workshop combining paper sculpture with a warm, ceremonial cacao experience. Through guided exercises, participants will explore form, texture, and composition using paper as a sculptural medium.
The session begins with a shared cacao ritual, creating a grounded and sensory atmosphere that encourages a slower, more intuitive creative process.
Participants will:
Learn fundamental paper sculpting techniques
Explore composition, volume, and structure
Create their own sculptural piece to take home
Experience a guided cacao moment to ease into the process
☀️ Saturday Workshop June 13 / 10 AM-1 PM
Paper, Coffee & Slow Making
A relaxed morning session focused on paper sculpture, material exploration, and mindful creation. This workshop invites participants to slow down and connect with the creative process through hands-on experimentation.
The experience includes shared time with Peruvian coffee, setting a warm and welcoming tone for the session.
Participants will:
Get to know paper as a sculptural material
Create their own forms through guided exploration
Work with texture, lightness, and structure
Enjoy a moment with selected coffee while creating
Both workshops are designed as complementary experiences – participants can join one or both, alternating between the more introspective evening session and the lighter, more open morning format.
